History

Leadership Lincoln was incorporated in 1985 when a group of community leaders came together to discuss the future of Lincoln. Among the needs they identified was a strong, sustainable pipeline of well-trained, well-informed, and well-connected leaders. They envisioned individuals who believed deeply in their community, were committed to ensuring it worked for all citizens, and were willing and able to step forward in service. Leadership Lincoln was founded to build and continually expand this pool of civic-minded leaders.

What began as a single leadership development and civic engagement cohort has grown to multiple cohorts serving Lincoln’s adult and youth. More than 4,100 individuals have graduated from Leadership Lincoln programs and continue to actively serve Lincoln through nonprofit boards, civic initiatives, and community leadership roles.
